The Ivory-billed Woodpecker, the bird that inspired the cartoon character of Woody Woodpecker and long thought to be extinct, has been sited and is the subject of an intense ornithological search in the lower Mississippi River region.
Overboard Art obtained old Smithsonian photos of the preserved bird to produce its life-like full-size sculpture titled "At the Edge".
The piece is a wall-hung sculpture of the bird emerging form it nesting cavity in a tree. The piece is hand-made in permanent sculpture resins then hand painted by studio artists. Signed and numbered by Don Briddell, the designer. Suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
